THEY GREW UP

Growing up a mere hour and a half apart, both Scott and Olivia were born and raised in Southern California. Scott loved video games and board games; Olivia spent time after school at her dance studio. As avid readers, they both grew up with their heads in books.

THEY MET

Like so many people their age, they met on Facebook... Accidentally! Scott had met another woman named Olivia (who they got to meet at Burning Man this year!) at a flow community event. Later that day, he added her on Facebook... or so he thought.

Thus began a warm friendship. They had so many interests and friends in common, it was surprising they hadn't met yet. They saw each other at flow arts events, Burning Man, mutual friends' parties, and after about a year, their friendship blossomed into something more.

THEY FELL IN LOVE

Through a shared love of reading, flow arts, and a general thirst for knowledge, they grew together. After eating a lot of breakfast food and ramen, experiencing festivals together, reading books together (and to each other), there came a point at which they were both unemployed and not sure what they would do. Within a week, they both had jobs and had made the decision to move in together!

HE PROPOSED

It was New Year's Eve, and Olivia's birthday. Shortly before midnight, both of them clad in their respective dog and cat onesies, Scott spun fire for her to Taylor Swift's "Love Story." There is a line in the song where the singer describes how "He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said marry me" - and that's exactly what he did!

Aside from the fact that he would be asking, this was a complete surprise to Olivia. Only a few friends knew what he planned to do. Knowing how picky she is about jewelry, he bought a plain sterling band with the word "PLACEHOLDER" inscribed on the inside.

SHE SAID "YES!"
